Chargers Welcome the #5 Team in The Country to Spragins
Future Chargers Day – Huge Success
UAHuntsville’s Future Chargers Day at Huntsville High exceeded everyone’s expectations. We had a lot of children who wore their basketball uniforms and they all helped cheer on the Chargers to victory. The biggest accomplishment of the day was that we were able to collect 300 can goods to donate to the Food Bank of North Alabama! None of this would have ever been possible without the help of Mrs. Scroggins and her crew, they did an amazing job and be looking for all of the promotions they will be doing second semester!
Thanks again to everyone who was a part of Future Chargers Day

D-Rock’s Diary
We will be starting a new series this season that I think everyone will enjoy. Derek Johnston aka “D-Rock” will be keeping everyone updated on what is going on behind the scenes and also give you a player’s point of view. I was a little behind getting this up, but here is D-Rock’s Diary Part I.
Hello all! As part of the new and improved UAHHoops.com, Coach Ivey has asked me to start a diary that will give you insight into happenings of UAH Men’s Basketball. Throughout the season, I will be journaling our thoughts, accomplishments, and road trips so that you can get unique look at the pulse of our team.
We are now two weeks into the season. It has been a busy two weeks. The season has already had several ups and downs but through six games, we feel like we have a solid foundation on which to improve. Beginning with three home games was great way for us to establish some momentum. The team was very encouraged by the amount of support received the first week of the season.
After a good start, we quickly found out how tough games on the road are at this level. Although we experienced a couple of setbacks on the road, we now know the importance that every small detail plays on the outcome of the game – especially away from home. We hope to take the things we have learned thus far and continue to grow as a team Saturday night.
Thanks for your constant support! We hope to see you at the game Saturday!
UAH defeats Oakwood
The guys got off to a great start the first half and we were able to keep that lead for most of the game as we went on to defeat Oakwood 92-77. We are now 4-0 at Home and that has alot to do with all of the fans and students who have been supporting us at Spragins. The student section during the Oakwood game was unbelievable, you guys really did make a huge difference. We all really do appreciate the support that you gave us, and I would also like to thank Mrs. Scroggins for everything she has done to get that student section fired up!
Here is the article from the Huntsville Times about Saturday Night’s Game.
I will be uploading Webisode 2 here soon with highlights from our last 3 games including the Dunks from the Oakwood Game!

Joe Smith Update
Former UAH star Joe Smith is currently playing in the top division in Italy. His team Angeclio Biella is currently 4th in the league with a 5-2 record and they are also playing in the EuroCup which is a huge deal over there. They are 1-1 so far in the EuroCup standings. Joe is in the top 5 in the Italian League in assists!
We do have great news…all of his games are online and we have the link to them if you would like to watch them. It’s kind of tricky but just follow these steps.
1. Click on this link www.popcorntv.it
2. Once the page is loaded click on the logo in the middle of the page.
3. Click on sport on the left side, then you will have 3 images on the right appear, click on the basketball player. This will take you to the games.
4. Click on view clip of whichever game you want to watch and you will have to go through a couple of commercials, some which Joe does a little modeling lol. But you will eventually get to the games, and it is amazing to watch his team play and how big the crowds are he plays in front of everyday!
Keep up the great work Joe!
Magnets
I would like to personally thank Mike Garder of Byars and Associates for sponsoring our 2009-10 Magnet Schedules. They look great, here is the link if you would like to view it. UAH Magnets
He said he would like everyone to know that the Magnets were done in Honor of all of the “Homewood Boys”, Will and Jamie Gardner and David Ivey.
