Digital Hoops Blast

Andy Pawlowski who is currently the head of the Nike Athletic Training team’s digital presence worldwide runs a website called Digital Hoops Blast. On his site he spotlights the amazing things in the world of college basketball marketing. We were honored when he chose to break down our website in an article called “Why I’m Thankful for UAH Hoops.com”, the best parts about it was that our article came in between him breaking down Duke and St. John’s website! Thanks Andy!

Chargers Sign Four
We are very excited about this year’s class of recruits, it is a very deep class and talented group that has a chance to have a big impact in our program. We feel very fortunate to add young men who are not only talented basketball players, but true student-athletes!
Will Carr 6’11 265 lbs. Center from John Wood Community College in Illinois
As a Freshman at John wood Will was selected Honorable Mention All-Conference. He shot 52% from the floor and averaged 9pts and 8rebs per game.
He was selected for the All American Juco Showcase in Las Vegas this summer. Only the top 120 Junior College plyrs in the country were selected, at the end of the event he was chosen to play in the All Star game which consisted of the Top 20 players there.
Acuff’s Quote: “Will Carr is the biggest player we have had in my 14 years at UAH. He will impact our team immediately with his size and both ends of the floor. We are very fortunate to have Will join our program!”

Acuff’s Quote: “Spencer is a great fit for our system and our program. He has a high skill level and should be able to play either wing position for us. Coming out of the outstanding Madison Academy program his is used to winning and we hope to see that carry on here.”
Garrett Cosgrove 6’8 190 lbs. Forward from Oak Mountain High School
Helped his team win their 6A Area Championship last season. He was selected as a Top Ten All Star at the Colonnade Basketball Camp. Currently he is averaging 17pts and 6rebs. Garrett also holds a 4.33 GPA in the classroom
Acuff Quote: “Garrett gives us size and the ability to play inside and out. He is a player that is hard to find at this level because of his ability to stretch the defense with his three point shooting and his overall skill set.”
Caleb Duke 6’4 180 lbs. Wing from Saks High School
Last year Caleb averaged 12 pts 7rebounds. He was named to the class 4A Area 9 All Tournament Team, the 2010 Anniston Star All County 2nd Team and the 2009 Anniston Star All County Honorable Mention. Caleb also boasts a 4.0 GPA in the classroom!

We started our first road trip of the year very strong last night with a good win over GSC West Division foe Ouachita Baptist. It was a total team effort in which 10 guys scored and they all played extremely well. Here is the link to an article on last night’s game.
UAH BLUE CREW
Our Students were absolutely amazing last year and they are off to even a better start this year. Even the bad weather could not keep them away on Monday, the Blue Crew really does give us the best home court advantage in Division II. Be sure and check out their video to see what they have going on!
Webisode 1
Webisode 1 is out and it even better than last year, it covers the Vanderbilt and Alabama games! Special Thanks to our video coordinator!
First Home Win
In front of a great home crowd last night, we defeated Columbus St 96-66 to earn our 3rd straight win. It is a goal of ours every year to defend home court and we certainly did in our first game in Spragins Hall this year.
