Soles4Souls is a Nashville-based charity that distributes donated shoes to people in need, regardless of race, religion, class, or any other criteria. Since 2005, Soles4Souls has given away nearly 12 million pairs in over 125 countries of new and gently worn shoes which are used to aid the hurting worldwide. The idea behind gifts of shoes is nothing new to the Soles4Souls team, as they coordinated relief efforts for the Asian Tsunami & Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. The University of Alabama-Huntsville Athletics Department suffered another tragic loss over the weekend, this time striking at the highest level. Athletics Director Jim Harris suffered a heart attack on Saturday evening and passed away at Crestwood Hospital in Huntsville. Harris, who was 63, is survived by his wife April, who is the University’s Associate Vice President for Advancement and son J.R.
