It was a great weekend in North Carolina for The Chargers as we defeated St. Augustine’s the first night 102-79 and then the host Catawba College the next night 84-77. In front of a great crowd on our home opener we defeated Fisk University 89-66. All 10 guys contributed and played well as we stretched the lead out in the second half. It was a great start to our season and we look forward to seeing everyone in two weeks when we play again at Spragins Hall! Click Below to read more about the game.
The University of Alabama in Huntsville Department of Athletics is pleased to announce that it will be expanding its online coverage of men’s and women’s basketball as the two sports are slated to have their home contests streamed online through broadband video provider America ONE.
After paying a nominal fee, Charger fans unable to make it to Spragins Hall will be able to feel as if they have one of the best seats in the house as the watch the Lady Chargers and Chargers battle toe-to-toe with their opponents through the season.
Games are available for purchase approximately 10-15 minutes before tip.
The 2011-12 home openers for both teams are scheduled for Monday night as Fisk visits, and it will mark the first opportunity for UAH hoops fans to watch the teams online. The women’s contest will start at 5:30 p.m. followed by the men’s game at 7:30 p.m.

Head Coach Lennie Acuff and the University of Alabama in Huntsville men’s basketball program announced its 2011 recruiting class on Thursday as the team will add a trio of talented players to the mix for the 2012-13 season.
The group includes one from Alabama and one each from the basketball-rich states of Indiana and Kentucky.
A 6-foot-5-inch guard, Greg Gardner hails from Bishop Chatard High School in Indianapolis where he plays for Travis Daugherty. During his junior season, he averaged nine points, four rebounds and three assists, and the Indiana Recruiting Guide lists him as the 39th best player in the state. Gardner played AAU ball for Team Truth coached by Ronald Nored.
Playing for Rod Chatman at Center Point High School in Birmingham, Michael Gilmore brings a 6-foot frame to Huntsville. The guard was impressive during his junior campaign as he registered a scoring average of 18 points per game to go along with averaging five rebounds and four assists. Playing AAU for the Birmingham Storm coached by Chris Monroe, Gilmore is a 3-star recruit according to Rivals.
Troy Saxton will come to Huntsville from Louisville, Ky., where he is playing for Trinity High School – the No. 50 team in the country according to ESPN. The 6-foot-3-inch guard averaged 10 points, three rebounds and three assists as a junior, and Saxton has been rated as the 16th-best player in the state by Jody Demling of the Courier-Journal.
In front of an announced crowd of over 11,000 in Tuscaloosa our team battled Alabama all the way down to the last minute and ended up losing 67-60. Alabama jumped out to a big lead early, but our guys fought hard to get the game back close and in the end we were a stop away from sending it to overtime for the second year in a row.
